


The Federation of Trade Unions successfully won 43 seats in the 2023 District Council elections.

On November 25, "The Development of Labor Movement in the New Era and the Prosperity of Hong Kong" was held. Professionals from various sectors were invited to serve as keynote speakers to collectively explore the direction of labor movement development in the new era and to embark on a new chapter in Hong Kong's journey towards prosperity.

The Federation of Trade Unions is dedicated to promoting cross-boundary medical policies and dental services that benefit Hong Kong residents. It held several press conferences to address the challenges and high costs associated with accessing dental care, offering suggestions for improvement. The Federation advocates for various measures, including dental care vouchers, mobile dental clinics, and the establishment of Hong Kong-style dental services at the mainland border.

In August, the HKFTU Disaster Relief Charity Fund urgently donated 500,000 yuan to Hebei for disaster relief in response to torrential rains. Additionally, they set up a donation account, raising over 1.31 million yuan for relief efforts. In December, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Jishishan County in Gansu Province, resulting in over 120 fatalities. The Federation of Trade Unions raised more than 1.7 million yuan and received a government disaster relief fund allocation of 6 million yuan to support the local victims.

The Federation of Trade Unions is dedicated to talent development and has actively recruited Hong Kong students from mainland universities as new employees in recent years. In 2023, it intensified these efforts by launching a three-year training program for new employees, providing them with opportunities to gain experience through rotations across various units within the Federation's extensive system.

Xia Baolong, the Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, visited Hong Kong and inspected the Federation of Trade Unions to better understand its responsibilities in Hong Kong.

A signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement on the "Social Security Express" cross-border agency service was held between the HKFTU and the social insurance fund authorities of mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. This arrangement enables Hong Kong residents to enroll in mainland social security insurance through the Federation of Trade Unions.

The Federation of Trade Unions organized a series of sharing sessions to explore the spirit of China’s Two Sessions (Lianghui).

In 2023, the Federation of Trade Unions continued to advocate for the rights of delivery workers. At the end of January, the Federation met with the Labour and Welfare Bureau to call for protections for freelancers and to address the issue of "false self-employment."

In 2023, the Federation of Trade Unions held a series of events to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
