Both the violent acts and the COVID-19 epidemic have severely deteriorated Hong Kong's economy and have worsened the unemployment problem. Under such circumstance, FTU Employment Development Service Limited has set up the "Emergency Unemployment Consolation Fund" to help with the unemployed workers facing economic hardship. The target to raise 15 million dollars by collecting donations, together with the 1 million dollars allocated by the HKFTU Disaster Relief Charity Fund, has been accomplished, so as to benefit 5,000 people who can receive HK$3,000 each.
In November, HKFTU initiated the "Reduce Unemployment and Overcome Adversity" campaign. Three job fairs were held in Kowloon, Hong Kong Island and the New Territories. More than 3,000 jobs were provided and nearly 2,000 citizens have attended the job fairs.
